Local Ride Information

Memphis Velo encourages you to join us for the many area rides throughout the week. These are the training and recreational rides that are most frequented by our members. All levels of cyclists are welcome. These are not official club rides. Ride at your own risk.

This is expected of all cyclists:

Helmet use and front and rear lights/flashers when dark
Courtesy to motorists, pedestrians and fellow cyclists
Demonstration of safe pack riding skills at all times
Respect for the ride leader
Observation of all traffic signals and applicable laws

Note to novice riders: In the interest of safety for yourself and other riders, please remember that many of these rides involve close quarters riding at high speeds. If you are not experienced in riding in a pack and are unsure of your bike handling skills, please consider attending R.B.’s “B” Ride. Many of the rides listed often break into different groups based on the fitness level and training goals of the riders present. So even if you are new to cycling there is usually a slower paced group that will accommodate a speed you will be comfortable with. However, be prepared if you do get dropped. It has happend to the best of us so don’t get discouraged. The best way to improve your fitness is to consistently ride with cyclists faster than you.
